James "Buddy" Snipes

(B. 1945) Buddy resides in Pittsview , Alabama . His primitive assemblages are created from sticks, tin and paint. He paints in a childlike and sophisticated style; images of African American figures, dressed in simple, brightly colored attire. Buddy's people are fun and richly painted. Buddy's art is highly prized amongst collectors. He has been an invited artist at the Kentuck Festival for the last several years.
