Jimmy Lee Sudduth

Jimmy Lee Sudduth(B. 1910) Jimmy is one of Alabama 's most famous and beloved folk artists. Jimmy began painting with mud when he was about seven years old. His paintings are bold and bright and reflect the people, places and critters that surround him…. He continues to paint with a concoction of mud and honey (Sweet mud) and house paints on simple plywood boards. No folk art collection is complete without a Sudduth piece. His art was exhibited in the “Flying Free” Exhibition in 1997 and the “Black Folk Art” Show held at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington D.C. in 1982.
