S. L. Jones

(1901 – 1997) Shields Lanier Jones, of West Virginia , is known primarily for his wooden head carvings (busts). His watercolors and drawings are equally enjoyable. His distinctive style of rendering figures in wood or watercolor, is all his own. He also enjoyed playing the banjo and fiddle. His art has been included in numerous exhibitions and is also represented in important Folk Art Museum collections.
