Tubby Brown

(1929 – 2003) Tubby was a retired grocer who took up art later in his life. He said that he would have dreams about what art to make at night. His religious subject matter would often encourage you to take the straight and narrow path in order to avoid going to hell. His pieces are often assembled from cut out wood, glass, cans and paint. His wife Betty would often assist him in painting the pieces. His religious themes would often reflect the devil and other Christian religious mythology.
